Numerical Simulation of Seiches in the Balaklava Bay

Abstract

The seiches oscillations in the Balaklava Bay are numerically simulated using ADCIRC hydrodynamic model on a mesh with approximately 10 m spatial resolution. First from four self-oscillation modes are obtained by means of energy dependence analysis. Possibility of generation of second and third seiches oscillations modes by gravity waves in the bay is theoretically demonstrated. Peculiarity of the spatial distribution of seiches oscillations amplitude for the different modes is presented.
