Abstract

The Bakalskaya Spit is a large accumulative form of the Karkinitsky Bay of the Black Sea. To date, extensive colonies of nesting birds, inaccessible to land-based predators, have been formed on the island, separated from the Bakalskaya Spit in 2010. The current abundance of some bird species and the spatial distribution of their breeding grounds within the island of the Bakalskaya Spit, obtained by remote sensing methods, are presented. The probable change in the areas suitable for nesting under the influence of the lithodynamics processes is estimated.
