Wind Waves in Karkinitsky Bay

Abstract

This article is devoted to the results of the monitoring of wind waves, conducted in 2000 – 2002 on the fixed offshore gas production platform, located in the northwestern part of the Black Sea. The author gives a clearcut presentation of the basic statistical characteristics of the wave regime in 2000 – 2002, obtained by analysis of the 9800 wave records. In particular, measurements showed that the maximum wave height in summer was 4.3 m and in winter – 6.3 m.
