Abstract

A method to determine the absorption and scattering of significant sea water constituents based of measurements of the attenuation of direct light in 9 spectral bands covering the range from 370 to 660 nm. The obtained values for the absorption of dissolved organic matter and suspended matter scattering correspond well to data obtained by other methods.
