Abstract

The model of nonlinear surface long waves is used for the numerical analysis of the tsunami-type wave propagation in the Black Sea coastal zone. With high spatial resolution are considered amplitude characteristics of single surface waves in shallow water and in case of the propagation in bays. The effect on the wave dynamics of bottom friction and nonlinearity, and the characteristics of the long wave on the shelf were estimated. Conditions of wave breaking near the shore were calculated.

ПIt is shown that the distribution of wave heights in the coastal zone substantially depends from the seismic source position and its parameters. The areas of the Black Sea coast, which are located nearby the generation source, are the most tsunami dangerous. Sea gulfs may also lead to the intensification of the local wave field along the coast with the propagation of single waves in the gulf.

The tsunami-type waves characteristics in the eastern Black Sea coast of the Crimean peninsula and the northwestern part of the sea, as well as a number of bays of the Black Sea region were determined and compared.
